Summer 2008

At the beginning of July, just after at the conclusion of the Russian Cup in Lobnya,
Russian head coach Andrei Rodionenko finalized the Olympic training squads.
The Women's team will be: Lyudmila Yezhova Grebenkova, Kristina Pravdina, Kristina
Goryunova, Yulia Lozhechko, Anna Pavlova, Yekaterina Kramarenko, Svetlana
Klyukina, Ksenia Afanasyeva, Ksenia Semyonova and Daria Yelizarova.
Six of them will compete in Beijing and two will be called as reserve.
Yelena was left out for the long injury she had at her back before the
European Championships.
But there are also some good news since not being in Beijing doesn't mean that
Yelena is planning to retire, since her coach said:
"Personally I am sure that we will manage in the next month and a half to be in peak
form for Beijing. But even if Lena doesn't get onto the Olympic team, we have already
made a decision to continue training. At least up to the 2009 World Championships.
Lena's potential in gymnastics allows her to perform and challenge for high results."
